Night Owl Psychotherapy

It's Never Too Late To Get Help

Are you suffering because someone or something crushed you?

Are you reliving traumatic experiences?

Are you overwhelmed and need help?

Dr. Carole Goguen

In my late teens and early 20’s, I struggled with finding my place in the world. The more I went from one dead-end job to another, the more I felt insecure and lost.

Insecurity slowly turned into anxiety and feeling lost led to depression.

Gradually, I began to see every setback as a failure and every failure felt traumatizing.

Everyone else seemed to have it together. What was wrong with me?

I had to find a way out of this black hole I was living in. But how? I had no idea where to begin.

Out of desperation I turned to my old friends, books. I began reading everything I could get my hands on.

Self-help books led to countless books about anxiety and depression. The more I learned, the more I knew I needed to go deeper. I needed help.

But Therapy

Scared Me to death!

What would people think? How could I talk about my personal problems to a stranger?

What would the therapist find out about me? What if I’m too broken to be fixed? What if I really am crazy?

I took a deep breath. I started searching for a therapist. I finally found one who seemed to understand what I was feeling.

Terrified, I took an even deeper breath. I made the call.

That decision changed everything. Don’t get me wrong, it was hard to open up but when I did, I discovered a whole new world.

I learned a more realistic, helpful view of both myself and the world. I learned to be kind to myself.

I became a confident, independent woman.

I crawled out of the black hole and into the light.

Therapy really worked!

Experiencing the power of psychotherapy led me reinvent myself and become a psychologist.

Early in my training, I worked with survivors of rape, childhood abuse, combat, motor vehicle accidents, assaults, and more.

Although hearing their horrific experiences and walking with them through their pain was hard, I saw them make dramatic, positive changes in their live.

I was hooked!

Now I’m a licensed psychologist and an expert in treating the aftermath of traumatic experiences like posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety for over 20 years.
